Nuapada: Tension prevailed in Komna area after the locals of Ulabha village staged a road blockade on National Highway-353 demanding compensation for the family of a youth who died here in a road accident on Monday.

On Sunday evening, two youths from Ulabha village, Jadumani Majhi and Arjun Majhi were riding a bicycle when a mini truck hit them from behind injuring them grievously. The duo was rushed to Nuapada Hospital in a critical condition, where Arjun breathed his last while undergoing treatment.

Irate over the incident, the family of Arjun, along with the villagers staged a road blockade in front of Komna police station on NH-353 demanding a compensation of Rs 10 lakh, while vehicular movement was disrupted as vehicles remained stranded on both sides of Raipur-Gopalpur road.

Meanwhile, police have detained the mini truck driver and seized his truck and sent the body of Arjun to hospital for post mortem.

Last month in Nuapada district, three persons died while six others were injured near Kurumakari after a Bolero vehicle in which they were travelling was hit by a speeding bus.
