1 beaten to death, 1 injured in Nayapalli

Bhubaneswar: In a bizarre act, a person was beaten to death while another one was injured by an unknown miscreant in Nayapalli area here last night.

While the two victims were walking on the road, the miscreant came from behind and mercilessly beat up the duo with a lathi. Taken aback, one of the victims collapsed on the road and died while the other injured fell into a roadside drain. The miscreant immediately fled the spot after committing the crime. The whole incident was captured on CCTV installed at a nearby house.

The deceased was identified as Basant Pradhan of Ganapati Nagar and the injured as Lamodara of the same locality.

As per the latest reports, the injured was shifted to the SCB hospital in Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.
