Khurda: The mortal remains of an Odia youth, who died on October 20 in Dubai, arrived at the Bhubaneswar airport yesterday following the intervention of former Kendrapara MP Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda.

The deceased has been identified as Narendra Palei of Gopinathpur village under Ayatpur panchayat in Khurda district.

Narendra, who was working in Dubai as a migrant worker for last 11 years, had died in a road accident on October 20. However, his family sought Jay Panda's intervention after they faced lot of difficulties in bringing his body back to their native village.

Later, the former MP took up the matter with the Indian Ambassador in UAE.

After the body of Narendra reached his native village, Panda today thanked the Indian Embassy for their cooperation. Narendra's mortal remains were consigned to flames at Puri yesterday.

Jay Panda further expressed his anguish over migration from Odisha to other states and countries in search of jobs.

"Mortal remains of late Narendra Palei of Banpur reached Odisha y'day from Saudi Arabia. At his family's rqst, i had been following up & India's Amb & his team in Jeddah were v.helpful. This is depressingly regular! My dream: Jobs at home for 4m Odias forced to migrate,"
