Cuttack: Good news for the denizens of the Millennium City. A boating complex will soon come up in Birupa river at Magura area in Choudwar, around 10 km from the town.

On Monday, Cuttack district collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani along with former Choudwar-Cuttack MLA Prabhat Ranjan Biswal visited the proposed Biju Patnaik Boating Complex site and reviewed the construction works.

During his visit to the site, Chayani discussed the progress in the construction of the boating complex with Tourism department officials, sub-collector and local civic body officials. He also enquired about the lighting arrangements at the parking place of the boating complex.

"I reviewed the reviewed the construction of the boating complex with the concerned officials," said the Cuttack collector.

"The beautification of the boating complex was also discussed during the review meet for the construction works. The Tourism Minister has sanctioned Rs 2 crore. While Rs 1 crore would be allocated for the boating complex, a park will come up at an equal estimated cost. We also need some more space for parking and a discussion in the regard was held with officials of various departments during the review meeting," Biswal said adding that, "We hope a major part of the construction works will be completed by March 5."
