Nabarangpur: The image of a man in khaki has shaken in the district. An official from Dangarabheja police outpost allegedly thrashed some youths in an inebriated condition at Suruguda village in the district.

Villagers alleged that some youths were returning home after closing their shops at around 9-10 pm on Friday. Outpost official Thana Sundar Pradhan allegedly beat them up severely without any reason during night patrolling.

"I was standing in front of my shop and doing financial transaction through a payment app on my mobile. Dangarbheja police outpost official suddenly reached and started beating me and some others severely without any reason. When our neighbours sought to know the reason, they had also to face the brunt of the officer who was in an inebriated condition," said Ratnakar Bisoi, the complainant.

Pradhan, on the other hand, has rubbished the allegation.

"It was the duty of police to do night patrolling which I was doing as a duty officer. I had just asked them why they were roaming outside in the night. I have not beaten anyone," said Pradhan.
