Jajpur: At least six persons were injured in an explosion in a cracker manufacturing unit in Bachola village under Binjharpur police limits in Jajpur on Saturday.

As per reports, the blast took place in a manufacturing unit, which is believed to be operating illegally inside a house, in the village.

Following the mishap, all the injured were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Jajpur. However, they were later shifted to SriRam Chandra Bhanja Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack as their condition deteriorated.

Among the injured, two persons have been identified- one Ramakanta Sahoo and his son, Soubhagya.

Meanwhile, police have begun an investigation. “Though some are claiming that the explosion occurred due to LPG cylinder blast, the exact reason will be ascertained after the probe,” informed a police official.
