Sundergarh: Normal life has been paralysed in Bonai block of the district today following a 12-hour bandh called by BJP over six-point charter of demands.

According to sources, members of the saffron party staged the shutdown to press for six-point charter of demands. They demanded that the State government should declare Bonai block completely drought affected and expedite construction of Bimlagarh-Talcher railway track.

Due to the road blockade by BJP activists on National Highway-143 and 215, vehicular movement came to a grinding halt. Hundreds of vehicles were seen stranded on both sides of the National highway.

Sources said, agitators were also seen picketing at different places of the block.

Schools, markets and business establishments remained closed during the shutdown. However, emergency services have been exempted from the bandh.

Meanwhile, adequate security measures have been taken by the district administration to avoid any untoward incident.
