Cuttack: Alleging irregularities in the appointment of attendants at SCB Medical College and Hospital here, members of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) staged a demonstration in front of the Cuttack Collectorate today.

Hundreds of protesters led by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha State Executive member Smruti Ranjan Mishra alleged that unnecessary favours have been given to a particular recruiting agency during finalisation of tender for the appointment of attendants. They demanded a probe to find out under what circumstances, the previous agency engaged in recruiting attendants has been hired once again. The agitators also submitted a memorandum to the Collector in this regard.

"Out of six agencies which participated in the tender process, Nirakar Security Agency was the best bidder. But due to some unknown reason, the agency was not awarded the contract. Moreover, the process was delayed for one year. Later the tender was awarded to the company which was engaged earlier. We demand a probe into the whole process and urge the authorities to invite a tender again," said Mishra.

It is pertinent to mention that earlier the hospital authorities had invited a tender from different agencies to recruit attendants at SCB Medical College.
