Bhubaneswar: Even after the former Women and Child Development minister Pramila Mallik resigned over the dal scam, crisis for the ruling BJD government shows little signs of ending.

BJP on Tuesday said that it will seek sanction from the governor to register criminal cases against the Chief minister, departmental minister and concerned officers over the scam.

“It is the most criminal scam because 1 crore 17 lakhs of school children and pregnant women were provided with these dal. And that’s why the BJP demands public apology from the Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik. We have also decided to meet the Governor of Odisha and seek his consent for criminal proceedings against the minister, and the chief minister of Odisha”, said BJP National Secretary Kirit Somaiya.

Somaiya along with other leaders of the party has collected samples of dal from 25 schools and anganwadi centres in Bhadrak, Balasore and Jajpur which would be produced before the Governor, Human rights commission and the central committee of the party.

Demanding to check up the health of children who have consumed the rotten dal BJP also said that a three member team should be formed to destroy the rotten dal. It  also demanded a public apology from the CM as the malpractice affected the health and lives of children, students and pregnant women.

However, the BJD has said that while vigilance department has already taken up the case and investigating the matter, BJP is only politicizing the issue.

“While the Chief minister is taking action against the malpractice, asking him to apologise is only a farce. The BJP is just trying to draw political gain out of it and people in no way will accept it”, said BJD member and Revenue minister Surya Narayan Patro.
