Deogarh: Vehicular movement on National Highway-49 have been affected due to a dawn-to-dusk road blockade observed by members of the Deogarh district unit of BJP today. The agitators led by Deogarh BJP MLA Subash Chandra Panigrahi have been demanding immediate repair of the NH passing through Deogarh town.

They alleged because of poor condition of the highway, which connects Mumbai and Kolkata, motorists often meet with accidents. Also, dust pollution and water-filled large potholes on the road during rainy days make life miserable for commuters, said a BJP member.

“Despite repeated appeals to the district administration to address the issues pertaining to the national highway, no concrete step has been taken so far. If the NH passing through the Deogarh town is not repaired at the earliest, the agitation will be intensified in coming days,” said an agitator.

As per latest reports, police detained the Deogarh BJP MLA when he was taking part in the road blockade.
