Berhampur: The district BJP today strongly opposed the proposed water supply project from Kansariganda in Ganjam to Krushnaprasad in Puri district.

Demanding a barrage at Kansariganda, BJP activists strongly protested the project. The members of the party staged protest and marched to the district collectorate today. The agitating members also presented a memorandum of demands to the district collector.

The party members have threatened to take legal action in the coming days if the water project is not stopped.

"We have a long standing demand for a barrage at Kansariganda. CM will provide water to the people of Krushnaprasad area by taking water from Ganjam's Rushikulya River. If a barrage is constructed, water will be recharged and stored in the reservoir. People will get drinking water and farmers will be benefited," said State BJP Secretary, Bibhuti Jena.

Jena further stated that "BJP has staged protest against the unfair act of Naveen Babu. We condemn Naveen Babu's act of putting Rushikulya River, which is the lifeline of Ganjam, in danger."
