Bhubaneswar: The BJP Mahila Morcha in Odisha headed by its President Prabhati Parida will meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence over alleged derogatory remarks made against women by senior BJD leader and Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy.

"We are even more saddened and shocked by CM Naveen Patnaik’s silence than the slanderous remarks of Maharathy. The CM of the state happens to hold the Home department of the state too and his silence seems like an agreement with Maharathy's statements which has belittled women’s image in the society,” said President of the BJP Mahila Morcha, Prabhati Parida.

Meanwhile, another team of Mahila Morcha has reportedly visited the National Commission for Women and submitted a memorandum in this regard, informed sources.

According to sources, the BJP has been demanding Maharathy's removal as minister for his alleged derogatory remarks.

Commenting on the matter BJD's Amar Prasad Satpathy said, "Maharathy has already given clarification on the matter and all that is going on is just mere politicization of the incident. The only thing that is left now is to see if the move provides any political mileage or boomerangs.”
