Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the general elections this year, the Odisha BJP manifesto committee on Sunday launched a dedicated website to seek suggestions from the public on the party's manifesto for the upcoming polls.

The website was launched during the second manifesto committee meeting at the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar today. Committee's chairperson and senior leader Biswa Bhusan Harichandan informed that focus will be on farmers, agriculture, industries and food processing units.

The senior leader added that stress will be given on co-operative sector and irrigation in the poll manifesto. He said that mini dams will be constructed in the State for irrigation and generation of power.

Harichandan also slammed the State government and termed KALIA as a fraud scheme and raised doubts on its implementation.

"KALIA is a fraud scheme and it can never be executed. The scheme is meant to cheat the people of the State. It is nothing but a well planned method to loot the hard-earned money of the public," alleged Harichandan.

On the other hand, BJD spokesperson Pratap Deb said, "KALIA was not planned in a day. This scheme includes everything that we had promised during the 2014 elections like farm loans at 1 per cent interest and special benefits to farmers in the budget etc."

"If we had launched the scheme all of a sudden, we would have been criticised for luring the people for votes in the elections," Deb added.
