Bhubaneswar: With an objective to make rapid inroads, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is not leaving any stone unturned to woo the voters ahead of the crucial elections in Odisha. BJP heavyweights including former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of State for Power, Raj Kumar Singh and party’s National Vice-President Baijayant Panda cornered the Biju Janata Dal (BJD)-led Odisha government today.

BJP’s heavyweights tore into BJD during saffron party's Vijay Sankalp Samabesh organised at three different places at Balasore, Jagatsinghpur and Jajpur districts of Odisha today. While addressing BJP’s Vijay Sankalp Samabesh' in Remuna of Balasore district, Panda stated that there has been a rise in misgovernance during CM Naveen’s fourth term in Odisha.

“People of Odisha now want change as there has been a rise in crime against women and children in the last 19 years. Enough now; India has developed a lot under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and with people's support he will become the PM again,” said Panda.

Terming Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik as No-1 in shielding corruption, former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan who was addressing a gathering at Vijay Sankalp Samabesh in Nimapara said, “I am surprised that atrocities against women and children are on a rise. The State which cannot respect and protect women can never prosper.”

Chouhan further alleged that Kunduli gang rape victim committed suicide as no action was taken. Odisha government has failed to provide basic amenities including electricity and water to farmers for which farmers are committing suicides, he added.

“First I could not understand what PC was. Later I was briefed that the government is thriving on percentage commission (PC). CM Naveen Patnaik is shielding corrupt officials while his government is dipped in corruption,” said Chouhan. The former Madhya Pradesh CM also criticised ruling-BJD MLA Debasish Samantaray for manhandling of Pulwama attack martyr’s.

Targeting Odisha government over unemployment and corruption, the BJP leaders gave a clarion for a change of government in Odisha in the upcoming polls.

“The people in the country have faith on PM Narendra Modi. The people in Odisha also want change as there has been no development and they are fed up with corruption,” said Raj Kumar Singh at Vijay Sankalp Samabesh in Jajpur.
