Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today launched a scathing attack on the Odisha government by stating that the ruling-BJD has denied the people of their health service rights by not implementing the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat Yojana in the State.

Speaking at a presser here on Sunday, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that instead of implementing the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, Odisha government is showing its ‘inefficiency’ by distributing money under the KALIA scheme.

“Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, farmers will get Rs 6000 credited to their bank account. Why is the Odisha government not providing the list of farmers to Centre? If the State government has really provided money under the KALIA scheme to farmers, why there is no list of the beneficiaries,” asked Chouhan.

Demanding release of a White Paper on the list of farmers, Chouhan further said that the State government is either intentionally depriving farmers of the Central scheme as it fears the Central government will take away the credit or all its claims of providing money to farmers under KALIA scheme is false.

Chouhan also lashed out at the Congress stating that the the Congress is not ready to learn from the BJP which never preached dynastic rule or politics. “It seems, they (Congress) don’t have guts. The Congress leaders are dependent on a single family but that particular family has already lost its charisma.”

On the appointment of Sonia Gandhi as the new president (interim) of AICC, Chouhan said that as the people of India have already rejected the family, it would have been better, if Congress had gone for a new leadership (out of the Gandhi family).

Responding to the allegations of the BJP leader, BJD MLA Shashi Bhusan Behera said, “The 15th Finance Commission and several economists have hailed Odisha government's KALIA scheme and criticising such a scheme is unfortunate. Instead of concentrating on Madhya Pradesh, why is Shivraj Singh Chouhan meddling in Odisha affairs? Criticizing the Naveen government is an insult to the people's mandate.”

On the dynastic jibe of Chouhan, senior Congress leader Sura Routray said that the contribution of Gandhi family for the country is incomparable. “BJP is making such statements out of panic after Sonia Gandhi became the interim Congress president," said Routray.
