Bhubaneswar: The State BJP Vice-President Samir Mohanty today lashed out at the Odisha government today alleging that the ruling party has politicized serious matters for personal benefit which has hindered the State's progress.

In a press meet, Mohanty posed six questions before the Odisha government and said that Odisha is in the second position when it comes to cases of atrocities against women.

Highlighting the involvement of police officials in the heinous crimes against women, he further alleged that the protector shave turned destroyers.

Questioning the role of the government, he asked whether the State government has a special detective department or not.

He further asked, when the government in Centre has been releasing funds to provide home to poor under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) why the State government is distributing the funds to its party workers.

Mohanty demanded clarification from the government on why the Fani victims are still living in miserable condition.

Mentioning about the 'Make In Odisha' initiative, BJP also inquired why different industries are leaving the State. He further alleged that unemployment rate in the State is tremendously increasing.

“Though the Centre has released huge amount of funds under various schemes, Odisha government has failed to utilize it and is in debt. As per the CAG report, Odisha government has not utilized 36 per cent of fund. Panchayati Raj department has failed to produce the reports of utilizing 40 per cent of the fund,” said Mohanty.

BJP has further demanded a clarification from the State government about distribution of funds under the KALIA scheme.

"KALIA and PM-KISAN schemes are different and will never coincide. The State government has been alluring the citizens stating the merger of the two different schemes," he said.

The saffron party also questioned the State government’s motive behind not initiating coastal-highway works before elections.

On the other hand, BJD MLA Debi Mishra said, “Odisha government will provide benefits to all. PM-KISAN didn’t include all the beneficiaries but KALIA is still providing benefits to all.”
