Jeypore: Accusing the ruling-BJD of resorting to violence and booth capturing during first phase polls, BJP's MLA candidate from Jeypore Assembly seat Goutam Samantray today demanded action against the miscreants.

Addressing a press conference, Goutam alleged that the BJD workers and supporters of BJD MLA candidate Rabi Narayan Nanda issued threats to polling officials and even tried to influence voters at the Mukhikhudupi booth in Koraput district.

“At several booths they (BJD activists) either threatened or lured voters during the polling. They tried to influence the voters and get their work done. Rabi Narayan Nanda should be arrested as he is the man behind creating ruckus and violence on polling day,” Goutam said.

Demanding the arrest of Nanda and other persons involved in influencing voters while the polling was underway, Gautam released a video at the presser to corroborate his allegations.

Samantray said not only Mukhikhudupi booth, the ruling-BJD activists influenced voters at other booths in the Assembly constituency as well.

Refuting the charges, Nanda said he has no knowledge of any kind of disturbance at the booth. “I have no knowledge about any disturbance at the Mukhikhudupi booth. Even if something like this has happened anywhere, let police investigate and take action,” Nanda said.
