Paradip: The BJD is all set to organise a Mahila Samavesh of the party’s women wing at Kujang in Paradip Assembly constituency on September 30, for the first time after the ouster of senior leader Damodar Rout from the party.

According to sources, several ministers, senior party leaders, Biju Mahila Janata Dal (BMJD) leader Pramila Mallick and others will attend the conclave.

The Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had earlier informed that Mahila Samavesh would be held in every constituency of the State.

Jagatsinghpur MP Kulamani Samal said that leaders will deliver vital information on how the party has been taking initiatives for the benefit of women in the state in last 18 years. This will help strengthen the party at the grassroots level, said Samal.

On the other hand, expelled BJD leader Damodar Rout who has been openly protesting BJD’s intervention in his constituency has shown his annoyance over the event.

“I don’t understand why they (ruling BJD) have asked four ministers and other leaders to camp here and spend lakhs of rupees... all these political dramas of the BJD will not work here. I believe that people will give a befitting reply,” said Rout.

However, Sabita Mohapatra, BMJD leader of Kujang ruled out that the event has anything to do with Rout.

“This programme will be organised at all the 147 assembly constituencies and not only in Paradip. Party’s women wing leader Pramila Mallick had informed that the events would be organised between September 24 and 30 and in view of that preparations were made a month earlier. It is not at all aimed to checkmate Damodar Rout, said Sabita.
