Bhubaneswar/Kolkata: Standing firm on its decision to maintain equidistant from both BJP and Congress, the ruling-Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today stayed away from the 'United opposition rally' organised by West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress President Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata today.

Talking to reporters, BJD spokesperson Pratap Deb on Saturday stated that, "BJD had not received any invitation for attending the rally. Besides, Chief Minister and the party chief Naveen Patnaik has clearly kept his stand clear on maintaining equidistant from both BJP and Congress. The only thing the party is concerned is Odisha and its people."

However, the party chief will take appropriate decisions keeping in view the political scenario, added Deb.

Meanwhile, a host of political leaders attended the mega political rally organised by West Bengal Chief Minister and All India Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee
