Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) led by Naveen Patnaik in Odisha received the highest donation of Rs 13.4 cr among the regional parties through electoral bonds during the financial year 2017-18, as per a report of the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).

Out of the 48 regional parties analyzed, only 15 parties submitted their donations report to the ECI in the stipulated time period while 16 other regional parties delayed their submission by a maximum of 31 days to 1 day, the association stated.

As per the ADR report, 17 regional political parties have defaulted in the submission of their donation reports to the ECI during financial year 2017-19 till today.

The report mentioned that BJD received the donations from six institutions while Janata Dal (United) has declared to have received Rs 11.19 crore from 27 donations. YSR-C which declared receiving Rs 8.35 cr is the third highest amongst all regional parties.

The total amount of donations declared by regional parties was Rs 54.81 cr from 2,824 donations.

ADR report further highlighted that there has been considerable drop in the donations to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as it received Rs 437.04 crore against Rs 532.27 crore in 2016-17. The Congress received a donation of Rs 27 crore during 2017-18.
