Khurda: BJD Rajya Sabha member Soumya Ranjan Patnaik today courted a controversy by saying that Odisha Chief Secretary is unaware of many schemes of the State government. His comments came while addressing a meeting during Abani Baral's statue uneveiling ceremony in Khurda.

"Nobody would be able to tell how many types of schemes are there in the State. Even the Chief Secretary will fail to do so," the BJD MP said.

However, he later clarified his statement and blamed mediapersons for twisting his comments to make news.

"You journalists are busy in twisting statements and making news out of it. I said that it is not possible for one person to remember all the schemes rolled out by the State government because there are so many. Sometimes even I fail to know about all the schemes. But we have to ensure that all the schemes are implemented properly," Patnaik said.

The Rajya Sabha MP also said that even teachers in the State don't know about the number of categories in their profession.
