Bhubaneswar: Ruling BJD MLA Arun Sahoo today broke his silence over summons issued to him by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with his alleged links in the Seashore chit fund scam in Odisha.

While speaking to reporters, Sahoo expressed shock over summons issued by CBI after 4-years since the investigation into the chit fund scam began. However, Sahoo categorically stated that he will depose before the CBI to present his stand.

“Like you, I also want to know why I have been summoned after 4 and half years,” said Sahoo.
Though BJD MLA Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak has also been summoned by the CBI, he is yet to comment on the issue.

“Several BJD leaders have ruined the hopes and aspirations of nearly 20 lakh depositors and Odisha government is trying to mislead them by announcing a corpus fund,” said BJP leader, Samir Mohanty.

It is pertinent to mention here that after CBI served notices to both the BJD MLAs, politics heated up in Odisha with the ruling BJD accusing BJP of using the CBI for its own political gains.

Moreover, the BJP has also counter attacked the BJD after Odisha Police served notices to two of its leaders- Golak Mohapatra and Bhrugu Buxipatra in connection with the Chhatrapur councillor Laxmidutta Pradhan murder case.

“Centre is using CBI as its political weapon,” said Senior BJD leader and minister Pratap Jena.

Responding to Jena’s allegations and notices to BJP leaders, Pradhan said “If you have any evidence, serve notice to me and I will face police inquiry. If I am guilty, send me to jail. Why BJD is silent on who Saroj Sahu who was questioned by CBI?.”
