Bhubaneswar: As general assembly polls inch closer, the BJP is leaving no stone unturned to take on the ruling-BJD. Party National President Amit Shah today slammed the ruling party by comparing it with a ‘fuse transformer’ and urged the people of the State to throw it out of power.
Addressing a huge gathering during party’s Adibasi Adhikar Samabesh in Puri today, Shah raked up several issues like Dana Majhi and Ratna Bhandar fiasco to corner the Naveen-led government.
The BJP president said, “If we look at tribals in the country, the condition of the ST community in Odisha is the worst which is evident from the incident of Dana Majhi. If the government cannot make sure that a tribal woman is ensured transportation for her last rites then it has no right to stay in power.”
Taking a dig at CM Naveen Patnaik, Shah said, “Odisha is rich with natural resources but tribal youths are migrating to other States because it is being ruled by a CM has no idea about their plight since he does not know how to talk in Odia.” He once again urged the people of the State to elect a person as their chief minister who can understand Odia language.
Comparing the BJD as the B-team of Congress, Shah narrated the investments made by the Centre during the past four-and-half-years and questioned why the ruling-party has deprived the people of the State from the Central welfare schemes.
He also lambasted the Congress and said, "After ruling for 10 years, UPA government waived off around Rs 57,000 crore worth of farm loans which benefited only 3 crore farmers, but recently our government provisioned for Rs 6000 per month to nearly 12 crore farmers which is estimated to cost Rs 75,000 crore per year. It will help farmers get Rs 7, 50,000 crore in 10 years.
In his response to Shah comments, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, "We shall await the results of the 2019 elections. They (people) will decide which government will be thrown away and which government will stay."

Speaking on Shah's 'fuse transformer' comments, the CM said, "We will see who is the fuse transformer and who is the transformer of Odisha."
He further added that his party is the A-team in its own and equidistant from the BJP and the Congress.
Retaliating against Shah, OPCC chief Niranjan Patnaik said, "BJP is itself the A-team while the BJD is B-team, I don't know why is the BJP president accusing us. Be it the Rafale deal or demonetisation or even GST, BJD has never opposed BJP's actions in any way over the last four-and-half-years, so they are actually bhai-bhai."

"I want to ask Shah whether the agri assistance announcement of Rs 6000 by his government is enough to alleviate all problems of the farmers. In fact, as Rahul Gandhi has declared minimum income guarantee for poor besides several welfare schemes for farmers, the announcement of these agri schemes like KALIA and PM KISAN are last gasp attempts by both the BJD and the BJP," said Patnaik.
