Bhubaneswar: Former minister and senior BJD leader Damodar Rout who is known for his sarcastic remarks from time to time has once again stirred the hornet’s nest.

During the Khola Katha programme of OTV, Rout said that the party is changing its policies just for the sake of surviving in the current scenario.

Elaborating further, Rout stated “On one hand the ruling party is stating that it is maintaining equidistance from both the Congress and BJP, but in case of former BJD MP Jay Panda, the party sidelined him when he wrote an article praising Narendra Modi. Now it has supported the NDA candidate for the post of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman,” Rout said.

When asked about BJD’s constitution mentioned in the recently-released biography of Naveen Patnaik, Rout said that the ruling party does not have a constitution of its own but rather it functions only on pen and paper.

The senior minister further stated that people’s representatives make the government, not the bureacarts. If bureaucrats rule the state, then the nation fails.

The BJD is yet to comment on Rout’s statements.
