BJD ex-MLA in trouble after sex tape surfaces

Bhubaneswar/Phulbani: Days after a woman levelled charges of misbehaviour against former Phulbani MLA of BJD, Debendra Kanhar, a sex tape of the legislator has surfaced exposing his involvement in immoral acts.

A few days back, a young woman of Phulbani had lodged a complaint against Kanhar at the Sadar police station of the district alleging that the former legislator and his associate Rinku Sahoo trespassed into her house and misbehaved with her.

Curiously, the police are clueless about the whereabouts of the leader after the matter came to light.

Though serious charges under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) have been lodged against Kanhar, no police action has been taken against him, said sources. So far only the complainant's statement has been recorded, as per sources.

"Debendra Kanhar has relationship with multiple girls and blackmailing them as well," the complainant said.

"He (Kanhar) was in an inebriated condition and trespassed into our house. Repeatedly he asked my daughter why she is not having a relationship with him. He beat up me as well," said mother of the complainant.

Kandhamal Additional SP, Utkal Ranjan Das said “Justice will be delivered to the complainant definitely. A directive has already been issued to the concerned IIC to arrest the accused immediately.”

Meanwhile, President of Mahila Congress, Sasmita Behera said, “We condemn the act of the former legislator of ruling-BJD and demand his immediate arrest. We will hit the streets if no action is taken against him.”

Echoing similar views, State president of BJP Mahila Morcha, Prabhati Parida said, “The police had asked for two days time. If he (Kanhar) is not punished we will launch an agitation.”

On the other hand, BJD spokesperson Amar Satpathy said, “Probe will find out the truth.”
