Angul: A two-wheeler owner in Pallahara area of Angul district was fined an exorbitant amount of Rs 26,000 after a minor of his neighbourhood was caught by a joint team of MVI and traffic police while riding his bike without helmet.

As per reports, the minor, who was caught at Jhimiripali was charged under two heads- riding without helmet (driver and pillion-fine of Rs 1000 each), offences by juveniles (Fine of Rs 25,000).

Although no comments could be obtained from the owner of the bike mentioned as Anil Kumar Jena in the traffic challan, the minor boy named Benudhar Pradhan said that he was going to the nearby petrol pump to fill up the motorcycle tank when he was caught by the traffic cops.

Bipin Bihari Das, the Motor Vehicle Inspector In-Charge of Talcher said, “The minor was caught while an awareness programme on road safety was going on in the area. We have fined the owner as per the law and bike has been seized too.”
