Biju Patnaik’s Memorial To Be Removed From Puri Swargadwar

Bhubaneswar: The samadhi (cremation place or memorial) of former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik will be removed from Puri Swargadwar. Informing about the decision, senior BJD leader Sanjay Dasburma on Friday said that Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has dedicated the memorial for the people of the State and there will be a memorial plaque instead of a structure.

“Swargadwar holds special significance in the hearts of people of Odisha. Naveen Patnaik’s decision to replace legendary Biju Babu’s memorial will be remembered for long,” said Dasburma.

Addressing a presser, Dasburma stated that CM Naveen Patnaik has also sanctioned Rs 5 crore for the development of Puri Swargadwar.

“Rs 5 crore has been sanctioned for the development of Swargadwar in the first phase. Odisha government is committed for the development of Puri Swargadwar. Preliminary developmental works will be undertaken in the available land,” Dasburma added.
