Bhubaneswar: In a major decision, the Odisha government on Saturday announced dates for the reopening of schools across the State.

As per the latest decision, the schools for Class 10 and Class 12 students will reopen on January 8, informed School and Mass Education Department.

The State government in its circular mentioned that courses of the class 10 students will be completed by April 26 while for Plus II students syllabus will be covered by April 28. As per the above schedule, 100 days classroom teaching will be held for class 10 and 12 students which means they will also have to attend classes every Saturday and Sunday.

A set of detailed guidelines have been issued for the conduct of classes for all government-aided and private educational institutions affiliated to CBSE/ICSE  and other boards.

Examinations for Class 10 will begin on May 3 and conclude on May 15 while Plus II students will appear for the board exams between May 15 and June 11.

The classes will be conducted in due compliance with the Covid-19 guidelines issued by the State Health Department and Special Relief Commissioner.

With Covid pandemic scare still in the air, the government's decision to reopen the schools only for Class 10 and 12 students is aimed at facilitating them clear board exams so that they can participate in national level entrance examinations for higher education and jobs, said the notification issued by the State School and Mass Education Department.
