Bhubaneswar: Steep rise in the number of daily Covid-19 positive cases in the State capital continued unabated with 1116 fresh cases registered in the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

With the new cases, the active caseload in the Capital city climbed to 8,947. Out of the new cases, 177 persons are in quarantine while the rest 939 are local contact cases.

Maximum 49 cases have been reported from Nayapalli area followed by Old Town, Khandagiri and Rasulgarh (36 each). As many as 35 fresh cases each have been detected from Chandrasekharpur and Dumduma.  Baramunda and Unit-9 areas saw 34 infections. As many as 31 persons have tested positive in Laxmisagar area in last 24 hours.

Similarly, Jharapada reported 30 cases and Bomikhal witnessed 25 cases.

Meanwhile, as many as 655 patients have recovered during the time.

The death toll due to Covid-19 has reached 272.

So far, 48,256 COVID positive cases have been detected in the city out of which 39,016 have recovered, 272 have succumbed and 8947 are under treatment, at present.
