Bhubaneswar: Health condition of tiger cubs Luv and Kush in Nandankanan Zoological Park has deteriorated, informed the zoo authorities on Sunday.

As per reports, Luv, one-year-old male white tiger cub born to white tigress Sneha, was limping on its left hind limb since 26 January 2021. It is being monitored by zoo veterinary doctors.

Similarly, Kusha, another male tiger cub born to tigress Sneha was suffering from paralysis on both the hind limbs and is too undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of zoo hospital under the supervision of Centre for Wildlife Health, OUAT.

The health team had examined the condition of Kusha on 28 January 2021. As per their data, his feed acceptance and activity is normal, but there has been significant improvement in his health condition. Vets later diagnosed the tiger cub as suffering from paralysis.

However, the health condition of Luv is improving and the doctors are positive about his recovery.

It is worthwhile to mention here that, after remaining shut for nearly seven months, the Nandankanan Zoo reopened its gates for visitors in a restricted manner with all COVID-19 guidelines and social distancing norms in place from 4 October 2020.

Thermal scanning and sanitisation of all visitors are being done strictly. The premises of the whole zoo are also sanitised properly. Sporting masks have been made mandatory. Visitors are being cautioned not to touch enclosures.
