Bhubaneswar: The month of July so far has brought a massive surge in COVID-19 cases in Odisha and the situation in Bhubaneswar is no different as the smart city today saw a record single-day spike of 124 cases.

With today's record spike in positive cases, the COVID-19 tally reached 1,043 in Bhubaneswar.
Of the 124 new COVID-19 cases, 72 persons were under quarantine, while the remaining 52 are local contact cases.

As per Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials, seven employees of a private media house who were contacts of earlier positive cases have tested positive for COVID-19.

As per the data of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), COVID-19 cases have trebled in the last 15 days. On June 30, the total COVID-19 cases in Bhubaneswar stood at 320 with 130 active cases and four deaths. While 469 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the last 10 days, the city has registered a total of 599 cases since July 1.
