Bhubaneswar: The month of July is now giving jitters to the health officials as well as local residents owing to a steep rise in COVID-19 cases in Bhubaneswar. What is more worrying is the fact that the smart city has reported over 1,100 COVID-19 cases in just seven days with another record surge of 215 cases in the last 24 hours.

With 215 new positive cases, the total COVID-19 tally in Bhubaneswar reached 2,365 on Tuesday.

Of the 215 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, 150 are quarantine cases and 65 local contact cases, as per Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).

On an average, the smart city has reported 150 plus cases per day in the past one week. A highest of 248 COVID-19 positive cases was reported on July 24.

The total COVID-19 cases in Bhubaneswar stood at 320 on June 30 and since July 1; over 2,000 COVID-19 cases have been reported till date. Not only positive cases, Bhubaneswar has also seen an increase in COVID-19 fatalities in the month of July. While the COVID-19 death toll was four on June 30, it currently stands at 13.
