Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Capital continues to witness steep rise in the number of daily Covid-19 cases with 171 new positive cases being detected in the last 24 hours.

Out of the new infections, a bulk of the cases (126) are local contact cases while the remaining 45 are quarantine cases linked with earlier positive cases, informed the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) through a tweet.

With this, the total number of confirmed cases in the capital city climbed to 33364 of which 32210 have recovered so far. At present, the city has 883 active cases while 250 persons have succumbed to the virus so far.

As far as the Covid-19 cases in the State are concerned, 1,374 more people tested positive for the infection in the last 24 hours taking the positive tally to 3,48,182. Khordha district reported 193 cases of which 171 belong to BMC area.

The death toll rose to 1926 with two more patients succumbing to the virus in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the total recoveries in the State also rose to 339603 after 403 more patients recovered from the viral disease.
