Bhubaneswar:  In a piece of good news for flyers, the much-awaited direct flight service between Bhubaneswar and Pune in Maharashtra commenced on Sunday.

Odisha commerce and transport minister PadmanabhaBehera formally flagged off the maiden flight on the route from the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here today.

Private airlines operator AirAsia will operate direct flights between the two cities.

“The air passengers of both the cities will be benefited by the direct flight services. It will boost the tourism industry in Odisha and help in financial growth,” said Behera.

As per the schedule, the flight will depart from Bhubaneswar airport at 1.30 PM and reach Pune at 3.55 PM. Similarly, the return flight will leave Pune at 4.35 PM and arrive at BPIA at 6.40 PM.

The flight service will be available for six days in a week except for Saturday, AirAsia Ltd said.
