“Bhubaneswar is fortunate enough to have 100 parks including 10 to 12 big ones. People these days have started coming to parks due to the current lifestyle and other issues and hence, we have decided to create awareness and provide them the right kind of entertainment they need,” said BDA vice-chairman, Prem Chandra Chaudhary.

Chaudhary further informed that the Utsav will also be a great opportunity to create awareness among people on several issues including environment protection. Today, the event was organised at two parks and gradually it will be extended to other parks in the city, he added.

An awareness camp to enhance use of bio-degradable sanitary pads was also organised on the occasion today.

Park Utsav will be organised in prominent parks- Indira Gandhi park, Madhusudan Das park, Biju Patnaik park, Buddha Jayanti park, Mahatma Gandhi park, Kharvela park and Nicco park.

A lot of activities like painting, music, dance, storytelling and other events will be organised during the Utsav which will be organised for two hours from 7 am to 9 am on Sundays and concluded on March 15.

BDA will deploy a 10-member team in each park as part of security arrangements during the event. Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been asked to take special measures for maintaining cleanliness after the conduct of the event.

“It is a nice initiative as people usually visit parks to do morning exercise. The event will be a success as it offers a wide range of activities which will certainly attract a lot of people, especially youngsters,” said Kedar Sahu, a local resident.
