Kendrapara: Almost after a three-month ban, the Bhitarkanika National Park here in Kendrapara was thrown open to public on Wednesday.

The prohibition to enter the wetland sites was put on since May 1 keeping in view the onset of breeding season of the estuarine crocodiles in the park.

“The Bhitarkanika Park is now open for visitors. Eight new cottages have become functional at Dangamala this year. Because of this, more number of tourists can stay here which will ultimately boost tourism,” said Rajnagar Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Bimal Prasanna Acharya.
