Rayagada: Irregularities in allocation of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) have surfaced in Kharjoda village under Kalyansinghpur block of Rayagada district. It is being alleged that persons paying bribes are allocated houses while actual beneficiaries are being deprived.

Villager Angad Mahanandia alleged that his name was in the annual PMAY 2018-19 beneficiary list, however the house allocated in his name has been transferred to someone else’s account.

"After reviewing the documents, the Block Development Officer (BDO) informed me that someone else had taken the funds allocated in my name. I was unaware of the issue" said Angad.

Currently, Angad is staying in a dilapidated single-room thatched house.

Responding to the allegations Kalyansinghpur BDO, Anup Panda stated that "Funds have been allocated to another person of the same name. We will conduct a field visit to identify on what basis the funds were allocated to the other person. Account number of the person will also be checked."

"An investigation will be initiated based on the allegations and action will be taken against the persons found guilty", he added.
