Bhubaneswar: Do you have any important bank-related works this forthcoming month? If yes, then you must plan your visit for transactions much in advance as banks in several parts of the country will have fewer working days in March.

Apart from national holidays, the working days and holidays will vary from state to state on account of several regional holidays and bank strike, sources said.

All public and private sector banks in Odisha will remain closed on the trot from March 8 to March 15. While March 8 and 15 are Sundays, banks will not be open for business on March 9 and 10 on account of Holi celebrations. Post Holi, the bank officials have called for a three-day strike from March 11-13 starting Wednesday.

Even though some revisions were made by Indian Bank Association, the employees are reportedly demanding a hike in salary. Banks will also remain shut on March 14 on account of second Saturday.

A report of Financial Express stated that banks across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal will remain closed on March 9 while in Bihar and Jharkhand, banks will not be open for transactions on March 11 in view of Holi. Banks in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Ladakh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Goa and Jammu & Kashmir will also remain closed on March 25. Only Jharkhand will observe a bank holiday on March 7, 2020 for Sarhul.

It is pertinent to note that March 5 will also be a holiday in Odisha on account of Panchayati Raj Divas.
