Baripada: A CJM court here on Thursday awarded 14-year imprisonment and imposed Rs 27 lakh fine each to then Bank of India (BOI) manager and four others in connection with Rs 1.31 crore fraud case.

While hearing the matter, the court convicted the then BOI Jharapokharia branch manager Girija Mishra, field officer Satyarupa Mohanty, suppliers Bangali Jena, Sushant Jena and Agent Satyananda Patra in connection with the scam.

According to reports, the five had swindled Rs 1.31 crore by forging documents of 131 persons in 2012-13 financial year under Jalanidhi Yojna meant to provide water pumps to farmers.

The convicts have been booked under Sec 167, 467m 468, 471, 406, 409, 420 and 120 (B) of the IPC.
