Cuttack: With just few days left for the conclusion of Bali Yatra in Cuttack, as thousands of people thronged the Silver City to dip in festive fervour of the famous open fair on Sunday, unavailability of parking space due to heavy crowd led to chaotic situation at the venue and the main roads.

According to sources, people in huge numbers were seen waiting for hours to get clear of the traffic rush. Similarly, people also cited unhappiness over getting stranded while waiting to park their vehicles at the venue. The situation became so hectic that even ambulances were left high and dry.

Looking at the situation, the Twin City Police took to Twitter and cited unavailability of parking space in the Silver City for people visiting the grand event.

"We are unable to let any more vehicles in today. Inconvenience is regretted. We will allow more vehicles as & when some space is available," tweeted the Commissionerate Police.

It may be noted that the Twin City Police had issued an advisory earlier in the day urging people to prefer National Highway-16 instead of Baranga-Trisulia route to Cuttack in view of the Kartikeswara Puja immersion procession under Baranga PS jurisdiction.

Speaking on the situation, Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh said, "The city witnessed a huge crowd due to Bali Yatra today following which there was a parking space constraint. We even had to open gates of some schools to accommodate the vehicles."

Till the latest reports came in, the situation however was reported to have improved.
