Bhubaneswar: A delegation of the BJP on Tuesday moved the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) alleging violation of the model code of conduct (MCC) which is now in force for the ensuing by-election in the Balasore Sadar Assembly Constituency.

The five-member delegation of BJP led by Jatin Mohanty submitted a memorandum and alleged that despite guidelines, developmental works like construction of roads and tube-wells are being carried out by the government in Zilla Parishad Zone 28.

“Today, we had met the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to apprise him about the way various government departments are executing new developmental works. Such works are clear violation of the model code of conduct,” said Mohanty.

By executing such works, the government is trying to woo the voters in the area. Moreover, one of the ruling party’s frontal organisations (Bidyut Shramik Sangh) is functioning from inside NESCO office premises, Mohanty added.

Meanwhile, the Odisha government officials could not be contacted over such allegations levelled by the BJP.
