Balasore: Protesting delay in release of their incentive for the month of September, ASHA workers here in the district have threatened to observe cease work strike.

According to reports, ASHA workers are provided their incentive within 10th of every month. However, due to the ongoing strike by National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) workers in Bhubaneswar, the ASHA workers here are yet to get their dues for this month.

The ASHA workers threatened that if the incentive is not provided within the next seven days, they would observe cease-work stir.

Meanwhile the agitating workers met the Balasore CDMO to present their demands.

"After working 24 X 7, we get some incentive at the end of the month which is not enough for us. The incentive is provided to us within first week of every month, but this month we are yet to receive it," rued an ASHA worker, Sujata Pasa.

On the other hand, Balasore CDMO, Dr. Vivekananda Das stated that until the NRHM staff return from Bhubaneswar, nothing can be done.

“We hope that the NRHM staff will call off their stir by Monday and the incentives can be released thereafter only,” stated Das.

It is pertinent to mention that the NRHM workers under the banner of Swasthya Mission Parichalana Karmachari Sangha have been staging dharna at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar since September 12 over various demands.
