Bhubaneswar: Senior leader and BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda has sought the intervention of India Embassy in Mauritius for safe return of an Odia youth missing in the island nation.

In a letter, Panda urged the Indian ambassador to take measures for rescue of the youth, Tuna Nayak, and bring him back to India.

Tuna, who hails from Farakapalli in Ganjam district, had been working with a private company in Mauritius since March, 2017. Tuna had reportedly gone to an ATM courter to transfer money to his father on March 20, 2020 and remained untraceable thereafter.

The anxious family members of Tuna inquired everywhere and contacted the company authorities to ascertain his whereabouts. However, the company authorities allegedly did not take any measures. Later, the family members had requested Panda to intervene.

Following the request, the BJP national vice-president contacted the Indian ambassador in Mauritius and requested the official to take immediate steps in this regard and ensure safe return of Tuna to his native place.
