Baby dies at Keonjhar DHH, kin allege medical negligence

Keonjhar: A 7-month-old baby boy who was in a critical condition died after being allegedly left unattended by the doctors at the District Headquarters Hospital here today.

According to sources, Seikh Nayeem Naik, a resident of the town admitted his critically-ill baby boy to the hospital late on Monday night. However, instead of immediate treatment, the doctors admitted the infant for observation in the general ward. Even as the health of the baby severely deteriorated at around 5 am, the doctors surprisingly didn't check his health condition following which he died.

Family members alleged that the baby boy died due to medical negligence.

However, the medical authorities refuted the allegations leveled by the family. Specific comments couldn't be obtained from the medical authorities even after repeated attempts.

As tension ran high in the hospital following the incident, police intervened and sent the family members out of the hospital to avoid any untoward incident.
