Bhubaneswar: After much hue and cry over alleged irregularities in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the Odisha government has now initiated the process to exclude 13,65,0025 ineligible families from the 'survey list'.

The State Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department secretary has written to all the district collectors and project directors of District Rural Development Agencies (DRDA) to prepare error-free waitlist from the survey list uploaded in the Awaas+ and RH portal to weed out all ineligible families and include left out eligible families.

“We must weed out all ineligible families, include left out eligible and prepare an error-free waitlist which shall be used for providing houses under all the scheme in future,” the Panchayati Raj secretary stated in a circular.

The circular also directed the officials to follow three modalities in order to carry out the drive effectively and transparently. In addition, the officials have been asked to adopt the modalities with necessary changes appropriate for their concerned districts.

The Panchayati Raj secretary has also directed the officials to prepare the final list of beneficiaries by November 30, by following the proposed modalities, and finish the sample check process by December 15.

Notably, Odisha government has identified 27 lakh beneficiaries under the housing scheme of which 17 lakh have already got houses.
