Aul bandh over sub-division status throws life out of gear

Aul: Normal life was crippled following a six-hour bandh called by the Aul Joint Working Committee demanding sub-division status for the block in Kendrapara district on Sunday.

While shops and other business establishments remained closed, vehicles stayed off the roads at several places in Aul and Rajkanika blocks.

"We have been demanding sub-division status for the block for the last several years. Aul fulfils all criteria for inclusion in sub-division list. But due to the indifference and callousness of the government towards our legitimate demand, the block is yet to be included in the list," said a protestor.

Adequate police force was also deployed to maintain law and order today.

"We have the support of all political parties other than the ruling party. We fail to understand what the ruling party wants. We will continue to protest till our demand is met," said another protestor.
