Sambalpur: Police arrested three minor boys in connection with the assault and torture of a Plus II student of Vedic International School in Sambalpur.

As per reports, all the accused were released after being produced before the Juvenile Justice Court. However, as another accused is still absconding, police have launched a manhunt to nab him.

The District Education Officer (DEO) has been directed to investigate the case and submit a report. Speaking on the matter, Superintendent of Police Kanwar Vishal Singh said that strict action will be taken against the accused if found guilty.

"The accused were produced before the juvenile court. As we collect evidence against them, we will decide further course of action," said Singh.

The victim, a Plus II first year student, was physically assaulted and tortured by three of his batch mates and a senior student inside the hostel on September 15.

The matter had come to light only after the family members visited the victim at the hostel following which, they lodged a police complaint.
