Puri: Resentment is brewing among tourists as well as local residents over the closure of passage connecting the Konark Sun Temple with Nabagraha temple via iron-barricades erected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

As a mark of protest, members of Nabagraha Sevak Society and Konark Surakshya Samiti staged a demonstration today alleging that the ASI has installed such barricades for the token gates in front of the Konark Sun Temple. As a result, several tourists coming to the Sun Temple are deprived of darshan of the deities at the Nabagraha temple, the protestors alleged.

“Today’s agitation is a protest against ASI’s move to close the road. If the authorities of ASI do not remove the barricades within seven days, we will intensify our agitation,” said Bharat Chandra Padi, an agitating servitor.
