Cuttack: They cannot hear or speak, but their arts speak a lot about the amazing artistic talent they possess. Meet the two siblings-Sriharsh Sukla and Sidharth Sukla-from Cuttack who defied all odds and carved their path from mediocrity to international fame by creating wonderful paintings.

Suffering from hearing and speech impairments since birth, the two brothers express their thought and feelings through the beautiful paintings they create. They never allowed their physical disabilities to become an obstacle in their lives and rather proved that divyangs are no less than anyone else.

The Suklas first came to know about the infirmity of Sriharsh and Sidharth soon after their birth. Their speech and hearing impairments distressed their father who took the help of medical science to cure their disability, but failed.

But as time passed by, the siblings gradually took up painting after being inspired by their mother. As They earned praises during their childhood for creating amazing paintings. Later, they enrolled in art from BK College of Art and Craft and earned degree in art.

After years of practice, the brothers steadily established themselves as top class painters and went on to being conferred Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi award. They have also been honoured by various organisations in India and America.

“I take  up Pattachitra as they are unique and different from other paintings. It is very difficult, but I learnt it gradually and I am happy with it now,” said  Sidharth through sign language.
