Bhubaneswar: Chhattisgarh Police on Tuesday started probe to ascertain more information from the travel records of arrested ex-MLA Anup Sai as multiple police teams from the neighbouring State are now on the job to collect more evidence in the sensational 2016 double murder case.

According to police, Sai along with his driver Burdhan Toppo were allegedly involved in the brutal murder of Kalpana Das and her minor daughter near Hamirpur forest in Chhattisgarh.

The cops are now trying to elicit more information regarding the relationship between Sai and deceased Kalpana and how many times they travelled outside Odisha together. Both Sai and Kalpana’s travel records are now being verified and a team today met the director of Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar, sources said.

Though a member of the investigating team admitted to have met the Bhubaneswar airport authorities, he refused to divulge much information as it might hinder the ongoing investigation.

“Today, Chhattisgarh police had come and sought some information and we asked them to contact the concerned airlines manager as it is not under our jurisdiction,” said Bhubaneswar airport director, Baruda Venkateswara Rao.

Another police team today visited the flat located at Sundarpada in Bhubaneswar where both Sai and Kalpana were reportedly staying some 4 years back.

Raigarh police will soon bring both Sai and his driver Burdhan Toppo on remand to elicit more information in the case. Moreover, the cops have also moved the court seeking permission to conduct a Narco and DNA test of the prime accused Anup Sai.

Though the cops have identified the SUV used in the gruesome murder, efforts are on to seize the vehicle. Earlier, notices were served to Sai’s family to bring the vehicles registered in ex-MLA’s name to Chakradharnagar Police Station in Chhattisgarh.
